Contact usWhat is Guided Biofilm Therapy?
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a revolutionary hygiene treatment, growing in popularity due to the gentle and completely pain-free way it deep cleans your teeth to reveal a healthy and sparkling smile. The EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy system uses advanced Airflow, which cleans plaque and stains from all areas of your mouth using a controlled jet of warm water and Airflow powder.
Many people associate dental hygiene treatment with uncomfortable scaling and scraping, but this can be a thing of the past with Guided Biofilm Therapy. It is a great option to help nervous patients achieve an incredible deep clean. As well as giving great results on natural teeth, GBT can also be used for patients who have braces fitted or dental restorations including implants, veneers and crowns, without any damage being caused.
What does the treatment involve?
Assessment
To begin your treatment, we assess your teeth and gums, checking for signs of gum disease and any particular areas of concern. We explain the GBT process to you and make sure you are happy to continue.
Disclosing biofilm
We place a special dye on your teeth, which changes colour where biofilm (plaque) is present and shows us where in your mouth needs the most attention. Making the biofilm clearly visible means we can easily and quickly remove it with optimum accuracy.
Airflow treatment
We remove the biofilm from your teeth using Airflow technology for a completely pain-free and gentle experience. The controlled spray of water, air and Airflow powder removes plaque from even the hard to reach areas of your teeth, gums and tongue, far reducing your risk of gum disease and decay. To finish, we give you some advice for keeping up with a good oral hygiene routine at home.
